EdUHK Time Capsule Exhibition

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held a ceremony on 27 May 2019 to open a time capsule, which has preserved our invaluable history and aspirations, created and placed on campus at The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) Tai Po Campus Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony held in 1996. Among the items preserved in the capsule were a letter written by the Founding Council Chairman in 1996 to the Council Chairman in 2019, the master development plan of the Tai Po Campus in the 1990s, handbooks and prospectuses of education courses, a 1995 graduate register, the HKIEd Ordinance, a video tape of ‘The Founding Year’, and newspaper supplements. A good number of friends and supporters of EdUHK attended the opening ceremony to witness the important historic moment.

EdUHK has always been committed to the preservation of educational heritage in Hong Kong and the region through the establishment of Education Heritage Advisory Committee (EHAC) and Hong Kong Museum of Education (HKME). Through this exhibition of the Time Capsule at Mong Man Wai Library, we hope that the audience will have an opportunity to better understand the development and transformations of EdUHK since its founding a quarter of a century ago.
